We continue to delve into the Hebrew language to gain a deeper understanding of the text presented to us by the Tanakh (Torah, Nevi’im, Ketuvim). We will examine how sentences and words are constructed. Step by step, we will uncover the essence of a verse, a verb form[1], and a word. This will lead us to examine the characteristics of feminine and masculine, singular and plural.
By the end of this Level 2 COURSE:
- You will have an understanding of the conceptualization of time in Hebrew thought.
- You will be able to recognize a verb’s “family.”
- You will know what a root can produce and how.
- You will know how a sentence, a word, and a conjugation are constructed.
- You will know the purpose of the small symbols that appear alongside the letters and vowel marks in the text.
- You will learn to use other methods of exegesis, employed to bring out a portion of a word’s richness—a portion that is not revealed if one sticks to the method covered previously in CURRICULUM 1, namely gematria.
I also invite you to learn more about:
- The Hebrew months
- The structure of the Talmud.
- Consonants and vowels.
[1] We will cover the rest of the verbal system in Level 3
