WHEN IS CHRIST'S DAY?

I come to you with this thought, which I hope will help and strengthen someone, especially a disciple of Christ.

When you read the New Testament, you'll often find an allusion to the "day of Christ", which we often interpret eschatologically, referring to the end of everything and the final judgment.

Today, I want to suggest another approach.

Philippians 1,6:

I am convinced that he who began this good work in you will make it perfect for the day of Jesus Christ.

God's work, which begins in us through the word sown in our hearts, is destined to appear one day.

Philippians 1,9-10:

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.

In fact, all our perseverance brings us closer to and prepares us for this great changeover.

1 Corinthians 1,5-8:

For in him you were filled with all riches that pertain to speech and knowledge, the testimony of Christ having been firmly established among you, so that you lack no gift, as you await the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, very few truly understand the process in Christ. In reality, the gifts are there only for common use and to help you advance to the full manifestation of Christ in you, completed in the eyes of the world.

Colossians 3,4:

When Christ, your life, appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.

2 Peter 1,19:

And we hold all the more certain the prophetic word, to which you do well to give heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day comes and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Before this heliacal rise, before the sunrise that is hidden within us, it is still night.

John 8,56:

Abraham, your father, rejoiced that he would see my day; he saw it and was glad. Hebrews 6,13-15:

When God made the promise to Abraham, not being able to swear by one greater than himself, he swore by himself, and said, Surely I will bless you and multiply your seed. And so Abraham, having persevered, obtained what he had been promised.

Whatever the word sown in our hearts, our responsibility is to be present on that day, the crowning day of our perseverance, and to finally see that the impossible for the world, has become possible through us.

Genesis 18,10:

And one of them said, I will come back to you at this time; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. Genesis 21,7-8:

She added: Who would have said to Abraham: Sarah will nurse children? But I bore him a son in old age. The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned.

Matthew 24,36:

As for the day and hour, no one knows, not the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. James 5,7-8:

Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it, until he has received the first and latter rains. You too, be patient, strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

The pregnant woman depends on the timing of the baby she's carrying. Unless the birth is induced, it's the child who knows when it's coming! The mother may multiply her steps etc., but in the end, the child knows when it's time for him to enter the world.

James 5,11:

Behold, we say blessed are those who have suffered patiently. You have heard of Job's patience, and you have seen the end that the Lord granted him, for the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.

Patience is believing that Christ in us has His timing, and that He is the Master of time and circumstances. It's up to us to be ready!

Job 42,10 & 12:

The Lord restored Job to his former state, when Job had prayed for his friends; and the Lord granted him double all that He had possessed. In his later years, Job received more blessings from the Lord than he had in his earlier years. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 pairs of oxen and 1,000 donkeys.

The coming of Christ in us is not some ethereal work in the air, but a radical change of life at the end of a bewildering journey to be a witness for Christ.

Hebrews 10,23:

Let us hold fast the profession of our hope, for he who made the promise is faithful.

1 Thessalonicians 5,24:

He who called you is faithful, and HE will do it.

In any case, without Him we can do nothing! And since the promises He makes to us are often beyond our capacity, we must rely on His Faithfulness to be witnesses of the impossible with God, witnesses of glory and honor in Christ, far from poverty and shame.

We hasten his manifestation when we go to him, for when we draw near to him, he draws near to us too.

But our responsibility is to believe in his faithfulness, the basis of every healthy relationship. And at the same time, whether we're awake or asleep, Christ in us is growing and drawing closer to his time (The wedding in Cana), to his manifestation to the world.

It is HE WHO WILL DO IT, FOR HE IS THE FAITHFUL ONE!

Simply do your part, the portion He allows you to accomplish, and be witnesses of His faithfulness: see His day dawn in you!
