ARE YOU MISSING THE POINT?

Genesis 42,1-2:

When Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another? He said, "Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down and buy it for us there, that we may live and not die.

According to this text, Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt; how did he see that?

Pressed by the urgency of the famine, his eye saw his need, but did not see the seller of the wheat. Had he seen him, it would have solved his real and main problem!

We often miss the essential because we're too caught up in the accessory.

His beloved son was right in front of him, but he saw the wheat so he wouldn't starve to death!

We so often run after "the needs of the belly" that we often miss "our essential need"!

Often something greater is right in front of our eyes, but the lure of gain, pride, worries, financial emergencies and the pressures of daily life put a veil over our eyes, preventing us from seeing and thus accessing immediate and above all lasting happiness!

May the King of all Elohim give us eyes to see what is essential and life-giving!
